Roles & Responsibility

JOB PURPOSE
• Provide expert L2 administration for enterprise storage (SAN/NAS) and backup/restore infrastructure supporting EB and BSS application data.
• Ensure data availability, integrity, and recoverability in line with RTO/RPO requirements defined in the managed services contract.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
• Administer SAN storage: Dell EMC, NetApp, Hitachi, HPE MSA/3PAR/Primera environments.
• Manage NAS storage: NFS/CIFS shares, quotas, and access permissions for BSS application data.
• Perform storage health checks, monitoring of alerts, and reactive/proactive maintenance.
• Manage storage capacity: monitor utilization, provide reports, and recommend expansion.
• Administer backup and restore solutions: Veritas NetBackup, Commvault, Veeam, or equivalent.
• Configure and monitor backup jobs for BSS application data and databases.
• Perform and validate restore tests as per defined schedule and SLA requirements.
• Troubleshoot and resolve backup failures with root cause analysis and corrective action.
• Coordinate with application and database teams for application-consistent backup requirements.
• Manage LUN provisioning, zoning (FC), and iSCSI target configuration.
• Perform storage firmware and software upgrades per Change Management process.
• Maintain storage and backup documentation, configuration records, and CMDB.
• Support DR and BCP testing: failover, replication verification, and restore validation.
• Provide capacity planning and recommendations for storage growth aligned to BSS workload forecasts.

SKILLS &EXPERIENCE
• 8–12 years of experience in enterprise storage and backup administration.
• OEM certifications: Dell EMC, NetApp, Hitachi, or HPE storage certification preferred.
• Hands-on experience with SAN (FC/iSCSI) and NAS (NFS/CIFS) storage management.
• Expert knowledge of backup tools: Veritas NetBackup, Commvault, or Veeam.
• Experience with storage replication: Dell EMC SRDF, NetApp SnapMirror, or equivalent.
• Knowledge of zoning (FC fabric management), LUN masking, and multipath configuration.
• Familiarity with snapshot management and application-consistent backup strategies.
• Understanding of BSS data backup requirements including database-level backup.
• ITIL awareness – incident, problem, and change management.
• English skills – oral and written.

TECHNICAL SKILLS – SYSTEM & PLATFORM COVERAGE
• Commvault Backup/Restore – Primary platform – enterprise backup and restore solution managing backup jobs for all in-scope BSS application data:
EB Oracle database, EOC, ECM, EM, EDA, CRM (MSD SQL), and SharePoint DMS
• RHOS/Virtualization – Storage integration with RHOS/VMware – OpenStack Cinder block storage, VMware VMDK/datastore management, and SAN/NAS provisioning for BSS workload VMs
• Ericsson Billing (EB) – EB/BSCS Oracle database backup – RMAN integration with Commvault, CDR archive storage management, and application- consistent backup scheduling during bill cycles
• Monitoring (ENM, MITO ELK) – Backup job status monitoring and storage health alerts integrated with MITO ELK; failed backup alerts and capacity
threshold notifications
• ITSM (MITO) – Change management for storage provisioning, LUN allocation, backup policy changes, and DR test coordination
• IAM/PAM/security tools – Storage admin privileged access management; backup data access governance; encryption key management for data-at-rest protection
• Ansible – Storage provisioning automation playbooks and backup job configuration management via Ansible

EDUCATION
• University degree in Computer Science, IT Engineering, or equivalent. OEM storage certification required.

WORKING HOURS
• Business Hours 8x5.
• On-call for P1 storage/backup incidents.
