Roles & Responsibility

Job Summary:

We are seeking a skilled Assistant Manager – CAD Design to support engineering and manufacturing teams by creating accurate 2D/3D designs and detailed drawings. The role involves working closely with cross-functional teams to translate customer requirements into manufacturable designs while ensuring compliance with industry standards and quality requirements.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Create and modify 3D models and 2D drawings using SolidWorks.
  • Develop detailed engineering drawings with GD&T (ASME Y14.5 standards).
  • Interpret and implement customer specifications, standards, and technical requirements.
  • Apply knowledge of fits, tolerances, and tolerance stack-up analysis in design.
  • Prepare complete drawing packages for manufacturing, inspection, and first-off approvals.
  • Coordinate with production teams to ensure design feasibility and manufacturability.
  • Work on components involving machining, fabrication, sheet metal, and assembly processes.
  • Incorporate requirements related to materials, finishes, and special processes (heat treatment, plating, welding, NDT, etc.).
  • Support quality and inspection teams with technical documentation.
  • Ensure proper version control and documentation management.

Requirements

Required Skills & Competencies:

  • Strong proficiency in SolidWorks (mandatory)
  • Excellent knowledge of 2D detailing and GD&T (ASME Y14.5)
  • Understanding of manufacturing processes: machining, fabrication, sheet metal, assembly
  • Knowledge of engineering materials and surface finishes
  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and specifications
  • Good analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy
  • Effective communication and teamwork skills

Preferred Skills:

  • Experience in automotive or manufacturing industry
  • Exposure to inspection processes and first article inspection (FAI)
  • Familiarity with PLM/ERP systems (if applicable)


Criterion as follows:-

• Diploma/Degree in Mechanical/Production Engineering or equivalent.

• 2–5 years CAD drafting/design experience in a manufacturing environment.

• Proficiency in SolidWorks.

• Strong 2D detailing and GD&T per ASME Y14.5; understanding of fits/tolerances and stackups.

• Ability to interpret and implement customer specs/standards, materials, finishes, and special processes (e.g., HT, plating, welding, NDT).

• Basic knowledge of machining, fabrication, sheet metal and/or assembly processes.

• Familiarity with creating drawing packs for inspection and firstoff.
